Attendance at Civic and Social Events
The Representative Deputy Lieutenants of each borough establish civic links with the Mayor (or equivalent), Chief Executive and Leader. They support and promote many civic events and may also conduct Citizenship Ceremonies, attend the Mayor-Making (or equivalent) ceremony, liaise with the emergency services, assist with the assessment of local candidates for National Awards and participate in other similar events.
Many Deputy Lieutenants visit local groups to explain the history and role of the Lieutenancy to a wide range of people.
